Ricardo Alvarado

Ricardo learned at a young age that expressing himself through sport was not an option; thus he took to exploring various other mediums to find a sufficient outlet. He grew up painting on his father's knee, and began to look at the world with a sense of wonder and enthusiasm that most ppl seemed to leave behind as they got older. He studied at the U of S Drama Dept, and has since gone on to work with most of the theatre companies in Saskatoon, whether on stage or behind the scenes.. including Persephone Theatre, SUM Theatre, Sasktoon Summer Players, Live Five, Shakespeare on the Sk, Greystone Theatre, and Saskatoon Opera.

Over the years, Ricardo found himself consistently being cast as "the drag queen", which led to him developing his alter ego, Puffy von Pop-n-Fresh, who has held the titles of Miss Gay Saskatoon (twice), Miss Prairie Pride Diva, and Entertainer of the Year for Regina and all of Saskatchewan. He still picks up the paint brush in his spare time, and has been an avid member of Artists Against Hunger for over 20 years.

Ricardo has found not only a partner, but a friend, in Kelsey Stone. She continues to inspire him and make him a stronger artist with every show they bring to life. He would like to thank his parents for always believing in him, and for providing such a chaotic atmosphere from which to discover a sense of self.
